The Darlington Bedding Centre is a family business that started trading over 35 years ago is now the oldest bed shop in Darlington with the experience and knowledge to match. Thankfully bed designs, colours (and hairstyles) have changed significantly over the years since this picture was taken.

However one thing has stayed the same, our commitment to provide the best products to our customers. Today our modern showroom displays all the finest beds available on the market today whilst still not forgetting the commitment of providing quality products. To stay ahead in a competitive marketplace we must constantly evolve and therefore our product choice must change as well.

Our commitment to quality and customer service is unrivalled and we will go out of our way to ensure your needs as a customer are met. We are a family business that is committed to keeping Darlington a thriving market town and therefore appreciate your business.

Over the past few years we have developed and modernised our showroom to offer an even greater variety of beds to cover all types and brands. Our prices range from a tailored handmade beds to a good quality first bed at a slightly lower price. Maybe that is why today we see customers from all different generations returning to shop through our doors time and time again.

Airsprung

In 1871 Hedley Chapman founded a mattress factory in Trowbridge, Wiltshire or to be more precise, he began to manufacture straw palliases at the very reasonable price of 3s6d a pair. He was a firm believer in quality and value for money and as a result the company went from strength to strength. In the early 1900's as mass produced mattresses became more sophisticated, so did the processes by which they were made and a programme of modernisation was introduced which ensured that the company was always at the forefront of technology.

When the world woke up to the interior sprung mattress in the 1930.s Chapman's was right there with new plant and machinery that was to make the company's name. Twenty years later that name changed to Airsprung to reflect the new designs. Today Airsprung beds are the largest single-site furniture manufacturer in the UK, offering the widest range of mattresses, divans, metal and wooden bedsteads available to suit most budgets.

At the Darlington Bedding Centre we stock a wide range of Harrison beds displaying them in multiple different spring tensions each one incorporating the patented and award winning revolution spring system. Myers

Myer's has a long and proud history dedicated to making comfortable beds dating back to 1876. While we still staying true to their heritage, they have taken the opportunity to embrace new technology by using the latest innovations and materials including the instant pressure relief of Dunlopillo Latex along with natural cotton and wool.

Generations have enjoyed a restful night's sleep on Myer's beds as they continue to give excellent value for money coupled with a high level of quality - still manufactured at their factory at Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. Dunlopillo

Dunlopillo latex was invented by a Dunlop scientist, Mr EA Murphy in January 1929. Murphy was one of a group of research scientists working for Dunlop at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham. Dunlop had already staked its claim on the name Dunlopillo as it was registered in 1926 and it was the first foam ever manufactured. Today Dunlopillo offers a wide range of luxury mattresses and pillows.
